Originally established as a subsidiary of the New Zealand Wool Board in 1991, WSI is now a vertically integrated, international wool scouring and export business listed on the NZX.

We own and operate two of the most modern and efficient scouring plants in the world: the Kaputone Wool Scour in Christchurch, and the Whakatu Wool Scour in Hawkes Bay. Both are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, and regularly operate 24 hours a day at full capacity processing 40% of New Zealand’s coarse wool.

We use only top quality raw material grown in New Zealand by skilled woolgrowers and we scour and process it in the most sustainable way, and to the highest environmental standards. This makes our wool unmatched in its sophistication, consistency, colour, strength and purity.

Our scoured wool products are supported by branding strategies such as Purelana, Glacial and Red Band which set the benchmark for quality around the world.
